FEATURES
A 1715 Redundant I/O system is comprised of a pair of partnered Ethernet adapter modules that communicate to ControlLogix controllers via an EtherNet/IP network, and digital and analog I/O modules that are configurable in simplex and duplex modes. The backplane for the system is assembled by connecting a 2- slot adapter base unit with up to eight 3-slot I/O base units, for a total of 24 available I/O modules per system. The base units, via termination assemblies, provide the interconnections for power, adapter, and I/O data. The redundant, partnered adapter modules monitor inputs/outputs and diagnostics for the I/O in the remote chassis. Should a fault occur in one of the redundant adapters, an IP address switchover occurs and I/O monitoring and communication to the ControlLogix System continues without interruption.
